Mantellidae (Laurent, 1946) Mantella

Small, toxic frogs found only in Madagascar. Mantellids were formerly placed in the family Rhacophoridae, under the subfamilies Mantellinae and Rhacophorinae, but were removed based on genetic information. Frogs of the genus Mantella are often kept and bred in captivity, and are noted for their vivid colors (similar to Dart Frogs), and small size.
